KUCHING: About 1,000 officers from the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) gathered for the department’s Gala Night, where its leadership reflected on achievements in 2025 and outlined the way forward for the coming year.
The event was graced by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas as the guest of honour, who also serves as the Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development.

PWD Director Datuk Dr Cassidy Morris said the annual gathering is part of the department’s yearly programme and serves as a platform to present its direction for the year, which he hopes will be implemented across all levels of the department.
He expressed confidence that PWD’s progress in 2025 was the result of strong leadership from Uggah.
“We have witnessed the preparation of projects in every corner of Sarawak, with specific works carried out in areas such as Limbang, Bintulu and Kuching,” Cassidy said at the Gala Dinner on Friday (Jan 23) at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
He added that the department is on track to complete nine bridge projects this year, in addition to several other infrastructure works that have already been completed.
Cassidy also highlighted PWD’s strong performance, reporting 99.57 per cent in the operation fund expenditure and 8.79 per cent in the 2025 Balanced Scorecard (BSC), achievements he said reflect effective planning and execution.
He stressed that the entire PWD Sarawak community remains committed in delivering infrastructure projects successfully for the benefit of the state.
“PWD Sarawak gives its assurance to deliver the best for Sarawak, both now and in the future,” he said.
As part of the Gala Night, the JKR Sarawak 2025 eBook was also officially launched, documenting the department’s key projects and initiatives over the past year.
