PWD-Rando Kuching Fun Run 2024 promotes healthy living and team spirit

KUCHING: The Public Works Department (PWD)-Rando Kuching Fun Run 2024 made a vibrant statement for health and unity, bringing together approximately 800 PWD employees taking part in the event.

The event, held at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) compound this morning (Dec 8), featured participants dressed in eye-catching green t-shirts, creating a striking visual display of unity and enthusiasm.

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said the PWD-Rando Kuching Fun Run 2024 was the first programme of its scale.

“This large-scale event is being organised for the first time, involving 800 PWD staff, to encourage and foster a healthy lifestyle,” he said after completing his run at the MBKS compound this morning (Dec 8).

Aidel officiated the event on behalf of the Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development cum Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

“During the run, some participants completed 2 kilometres, while others took on the challenge of running 5 kilometres,” he added.

According to the PWD, the main objectives were to promote health and well-being.

“Participants embraced the opportunity to engage in physical activity, reinforcing the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle for both physical and mental wellness,” the statement read.

The Fun Run also promoted departmental unity, celebrating the spirit of collaboration and togetherness within PWD Sarawak.

“The Fun Run reflects PWD Sarawak’s commitment to not only delivering excellence in infrastructure but also nurturing a motivated and cohesive workforce,” the statement highlighted.

Also present at the event were PWD Director Cassidy Morris and MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.
