THE Public Works Department (PWD) Sarawak will submit a proposal to raise the road levels in several flood-prone areas in Kanowit.
Datuk Aidel Lariwoo (GPS-Sadong Jaya) said these areas include Jalan Pedai, Jalan Ulu Tuah, Jalan Sungai Urap and Jalan Sedaya Lama.
“However, with regard to the proposal to raise the road levels for Jalan Ulu Tuah; and Jalan Sungai Urap and Jalan Sedaya Lama, PWD Sarawak will submit the proposal under the Emergency Response Works allocation for the year 2025.

“As a long-term plan, more intensive treatment methods will need to be implemented for all three roads, and PWD Sarawak will submit an upgrade proposal under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) for consideration and approval,” he said.
He said this during the question-and-answer session at Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today (May 21).
He noted the overall estimated cost to upgrade the entire Jalan Pedai is RM22.36 million.
“The estimated cost for upgrading works at the critical sections is RM550,000 for Jalan Sedaya Lama and Jalan Sungai Urap, and RM275,000 for Jalan Ulu Tuah,” he said.
