KUCHING: Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah on behalf of PBB Women Wing (PWPBB), said they are fully behind the Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah in his decision to initiate legal action against Vernon Kedit for using slanderous words against him, said a press statement yesterday.

We do not condone any actions or words used by politicians that are slanderous or defamatory aimed at character assassination as in the case here, the statement continued.

In Sarawak we are very proud of our diversity and unity and it is not in our culture to be rude. We want peace to be maintained and people must always remain respectful of each other even when there are political differences. We do not welcome attitudes and behaviour that oversteps its boundaries such as racist remarks which was why during Tok Nan’s time many of those from the other side who were making seditious statements which could inflamed others were ban from our state.

As Politicians from two opposing ends, we will definitely have differences in opinions but we must always maintain respectability in our arguments as to why we are against a certain policy or decision of the government.

Politicians must always act with decorum especially in what they say and do and show good example to our people especially the younger generation, the PWPBB press release concluded.
