BANGKOK: Sarawak’s Queenie Kung Ni Ting kept Malaysia on the podium in the women’s discus, earning silver with a 51.81m effort against a field led by Thai Olympian, Insaeng Subenrat, at Suphachalasai National Stadium on Thursday night.
Under the cool and slightly windy night skies, Queenie delivered a solid performance, finishing second behind Insaeng, who dominated the event with a winning throw of 58.86m.
Vietnam’s Le Thi Cam Dung rounded out the podium in third place with 49.34m.

For Queenie, the near-perfect weather set the stage for a strong showing.
“For me, tonight had a really good vibe because the weather was just right, a bit cool but also windy,” she said after the event.
While her primary goal was to challenge the national record, Queenie acknowledged she fell just short of that target.
“Overall, I’m very happy to secure the silver medal for our country. Of course, my target was gold, so there’s a bit of a gap,” she added.
Queenie praised gold medalist Insaeng Subenrat’s experience and performance.
“The gold medal went to Thailand’s Olympian, which is a very strong motivation for me,” she said.
“For me, I will need to think about how I can get closer to her level in the future.”
