KUCHING: Swift action by firefighters helped defuse a tense situation after a woman was found in emotional distress at a condominium here this afternoon (Aug 6).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received an emergency call at 3.46 pm reporting that the woman was believed to be at risk of harming herself.
Firefighters from Padungan station were dispatched to the scene to assist in defusing the situation.
Upon arrival, rescuers found the woman inside a locked room in the condominium unit.
Working together with the woman’s partner, the rescue team managed to gain access to the room while simultaneously speaking with her to calm the situation and prevent any action that could endanger her safety.
The incident ended without any injuries. The team returned to their station at 4.18 pm.
