MANCHESTER, England: Pep Guardiola insisted the Premier League title race is not finished after Manchester City were held to a shock 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest.
City twice led at the Etihad Stadium but could not secure victory. Goals from Antoine Semenyo and Rodri were cancelled out by Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson.
City nearly snatched a late winner when Savinho had a shot cleared off the line by Murillo with the final kick of the match.
The dropped points proved even more damaging after leaders Arsenal beat Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0, leaving the Gunners seven points clear at the top.
Despite the setback, Guardiola believes City can still close the gap in the final stretch of the season.
“Still many games to play,” he said. “There are games where we don’t deserve it. Today we played in general good for 90 minutes.”
Guardiola also refused to criticise officials after a late penalty appeal involving Erling Haaland was waved away following a VAR review.
“It’s our responsibility to be better,” he said. “If we have to rely on them, it’s impossible.”
City now turn their focus to an FA Cup clash with Newcastle United before facing Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League last 16.
