LIMBANG: Racial harmony continues to serve as a vital foundation in building a stable and progressive nation, particularly within the context of a multicultural society.

Federal Deputy Minister of Transport, who is Limbang Member of Parliament, Datuk Hasbi Habibollah, said mutual respect in a multiracial society and the celebration of diverse cultures and festivals reflect the maturity of the people in preserving unity.

Hasbi added Malaysians celebrate various cultural rites and festivals together each year as a symbol of strong unity.

“Every year, we celebrate the various cultural ceremonies of different communities together. This is the unity that exists among Malaysians, where unity is an essential foundation in nation-building.

“One of the signs that our country is progressing is the unity we enjoy today,” he said.

He said this during a Chinese New Year visit with Chinese community leaders and community heads in Limbang on Tuesday (Feb 17).

He added that the practice of visiting one another and participating together in festive celebrations not only strengthens bonds of friendship but also clearly demonstrates that a nation’s strength lies in the unity of its people.

In conjunction with the Year of the Horse, Hasbi expressed hope that the celebration would bring goodness and strength to all Malaysians regardless of race and religion.

“We hope for goodness and strength for our people, and we must continue to safeguard harmony so that the unity we have will endure and be further strengthened,” he added.

Also present were Batu Danau state assemblyman, Datuk Paulus Palu Gumbang, and Limbang District Council chairman, Sufian Mohat.
