KUCHING: The Rahmah Sales Programme (PJR) organised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) provides a valuable opportunity for the B40 group to access essential goods at affordable prices.

Having said this, KPDN Sarawak enforcement chief Peter J Berinus Agang pointed out the benefits of the programme, stressing its role in offering cheaper supplies to communities, particularly those in surrounding areas.

“This initiative is part of the ministry’s ‘Jualan Rahmah’ campaign, providing a discount ranging from 10 to 30 percent on essential items compared to market prices.

“Nationally, this programme extends across 222 parliamentary constituencies. In Sarawak, it occurs twice a month across 31 constituencies.

“During Ramadan, we have hosted 114 Rahmah Sales programmes state-wide, including 38 mobile sales, from Mar 12 to Apr 9. This has allowed nearby communities to buy goods and save money at the same time,” he said.

He said these during the officiation of the Rahmah Sales programme (PJR) at Masjid Jamek, Petra Jaya here today (Apr 7).

Regarding plans to increase the frequency of the sales programme in the state, Agang assured that the ministry is committed to fulfilling local leaders’ requests for such programmes to assist the community.

The programme, organised by KPDN Sarawak in collaboration with Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) and strategic partner Everrise, marked the 38th mobile of the PJR during the month of Ramadan throughout Sarawak.

The programme offers discounts on various daily necessities such as chicken, fish, eggs, cooking oil, flour, rice, vegetables, fruits, and other food and non-food items.

Also present were LAKMNS CEO Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai.
