KUCHING: The Rahmah Sale programme returned for its third year at the Maal Hijrah Festival drawing strong response from the local community by offering essential goods at below market prices.
Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai said that the public’s enthusiastic turnout reflects the continued need for such initiatives, especially during uncertain economic times.
“We truly believe that in today’s uncertain economic climate, the Rahmah Sale is focused on helping specific groups in need.
“To ensure affordability, price limits are set on all items. As we often say, there’s no need to bring a lorry, everyone is encouraged to buy only what they need so more people can benefit.
“Sales began as early as 8:00 am and will continue until stocks run out, with fresh stock to be brought in for the second day,” he said.

He said when met with reporters after officiating the Rahmah Sale programme launching ceremony held in conjunction with Maal Hijrah Festival at Sarawak State Mosque (Jamek Mosque) here today.
For the record, the two-day programme taking place from June 28 to 29 is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) and LAKMNS.
As part of the launch, 30 selected recipients received food baskets containing basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, eggs and other kitchen essentials, with each basket valued at around RM300.
To encourage attendance, the first 1,000 visitors will receive RM20 in e-wallet credit top-ups, while stocks last.
Also present at the event were KPDN Sarawak Enforcement Officer Ella Syahirah Romy Kasidi, Ronal Radin, and senior management members from both LAKMNS and KPDN.
