MIRI: The monsoon season has kept the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) busy as snakes are spotted encroaching into houses.

This morning, APM personnel were deployed to a house in Kampung Lereng Bukit after a 44-year-old woman saw a four-foot long snake slithering into her home.

“She was sitting at the living room when she saw her pet cat playing with the reptile,” said Miri APM officer-in-charge Captain (PA) Usman Harto.

Shocked, she immediately called up the APM for help around 8.19am.

In a separate incident in a house in Taman Tunku, a 62-year-old woman was surprised to see a one-metre long cobra slithering into her house’s compound while doing her chores.

“We have sent our team to the location after responding to the alert call at 10.19am and secured the place,” said Usman.
