LIMBANG: The ‘Raja Kita’ Exhibition delivers a powerful message to the public, highlighting the nation’s founding and the role of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as the guardian of the country.
Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, said the exhibition – held in conjunction with the official state-level celebration of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s birthday – serves as an important platform to raise public awareness about the history and significance of Malaysia’s monarchy.
“Today, we are raising awareness among the public about the institution of the Malay Rulers in Malaysia.
“Many citizens are unaware of the origins of this royal institution and its role in the formation of our nation,” he said.
He said this during a press conference after visiting the ‘Raja Kita’ Exhibition at the Dewan Suarah Limbang here today.
Sagah noted that the exhibition also features all past and present Yang di-Pertuan Agong, highlighting the enduring legacy and continuity of the royal institution within Malaysia’s system of governance.
“We hope the people around Limbang, including those from Sabah, Brunei and Miri, will take the opportunity to visit this exhibition.
“It not only fosters patriotic spirit but also strengthens our understanding of the national system,” he said.
He also extended his gratitude to the National Museum for showcasing a range of royal-related items, artefacts and historical materials to the public beyond Kuala Lumpur.
“This is the first time such an exhibition is being brought outside of Kuala Lumpur, and we are very thankful to the National Museum for this effort.
“It provides the people of Sarawak, especially those in Limbang, the opportunity to explore our nation’s history up close,” he added.
The ‘Raja Kita’ Exhibition runs from 12 to 15 June 2025, and is enlivened by various side activities, including health screenings, complete meal set competitions, colouring contests, Limbang Talent 2025, Jejak Dirgahayu heritage trail, Zumba sessions, and many other exciting events.
The event also showcased reproduced items of the regalia used in the Installation Ceremony of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Among the regalia reproductions specially brought to Limbang for the exhibition were the Tengkolok DiRaja (Royal Headdress), Keris Panjang DiRaja (Royal Long Dagger), Cogan Alam (Sceptre of the Universe), Cokmar (Mace), Cogan Agama (Sceptre of Religion), Keris Pendek DiRaja (Royal Short Dagger), Gendik Permaisuri (Queen’s Tiara), and Pending DiRaja (Royal Belt Buckle).
