KUCHING: Eighty asnaf (the recipients) and underprivileged residents from across the Satok constituency received food baskets and cash assistance in a Ramadan outreach programme held at the Satok Sports Complex on Sunday (Mac 1).

Satok assemblyman and Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki said the annual initiative reflects continued efforts to ensure vulnerable families are not left behind during the fasting month.

He said beyond easing daily expenses, the assistance was also intended to help recipients make modest preparations for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.

“This contribution may not be large, but it is our way of sharing blessings and helping to reduce the financial strain faced by those in need, especially as Syawal approaches,” he said when met after the distribution ceremony on March 1.

The recipients represented 16 villages within the constituency, namely Kampung Bandarsah, Kampung Bintangor, Kampung No. 3, Kampung No. 4, Kampung No. 5, Kampung No. 6, Kampung Segedup, Kampung Sungai Maong, Kudei Baru, Kudei Dungun, Kudei Iban, Kudei Lama, Kampung Masjid, Kampung Muda Hashim A, Kampung Muda Hashim B and Kampung Muhibbah.

The programme was organised by Kelab Sukan dan Komuniti (KSK) Satok in collaboration with the N8 Satok Service Centre as part of its yearly Ramadan agenda.

During the event, Ibrahim also officiated the distribution of bubur lambuk contributed by the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board, further adding to the spirit of communal sharing.
