KUCHING: The fasting season has begun and Ramadan bazaars are buzzing with activities.
At the Batu Kawa MPP Ramadan Bazaar, crowds started gathering as early as 2 pm yesterday to pick up a variety of tasty treats.

For Sulaiman Sidi, 55, the owner of Leman Panggang MJC, this marked an annual event as he had been selling grilled chickens and other related grilled items for 15 years.

“I started selling 15 years ago and will always participate in the bazaar sales, especially in the Batu Kawa area,” he said when speaking to the Sarawak Tribune.

Sulaiman added that his menu was among the most affordable, with items like chicken tails, chicken skin, hotdogs and others priced as low as RM1 per stick, chicken wings at RM3 and a whole grilled chicken costing RM25.

According to him, his business has built a loyal customer base over the years.

Meanwhile, observations made by Sarawak Tribune found that beverages were priced between RM3 and RM5 per cup, local desserts ranged from RM2.50 to RM5 and packed meals such as laksa, mee jawa, nasi kerabu, and others were sold for RM7 to RM11.
