PADAWAN: Ramces Tawang has been re-elected unopposed as president of the Padawan Adventure 4×4 Club for a second term (2026–2027) during the election held in conjunction with the club’s annual general meeting on Sunday (Mar 15).

Also elected unopposed as vice-president was Sanjan Daik, while Hansel Meran and Robert Kenneth were elected as secretary and assistant secretary respectively.

Also re-elected as the club’s treasurer was Noel Samuel, while Jonnidi Subieb was elected as assistant treasurer.

Three other elected committee members are Peter Apit, Kencha Dewok and Slyvester Bunsin, while Sebastian Sakol and Roland Gerejeh were appointed as the club’s auditors.

The meeting was officiated by Puncak Borneo MP who is also the club’s patron, Datuk Willie Mongin.

Willie in his speech urged the club to plan and organise more welfare and community activities in addition to motor sports (4×4) activities.

He also suggested that the club continue to organise training sessions related to driving skills and recovery tactics for members of the club.

Besides, he said the club should also organise more community service related activities.

“We don’t want the public to presume that the club (4×4 club) is for the rich.

“We should have more community service activities which are seen as relevant to the community.,” he added.

He also encouraged the club to continue organising training sessions related to driving skills and recovery tactics, while introducing more engaging activities for members.

“It is about time to organise the club activities beyond the traditional ways,” he said, and suggested the club hold at least four main activities a year.

Willie also challenged the club to repeat the Puncak Borneo New Year Countdown event this year, following its successful organisation on the eve of 2026 despite heavy rain and a power outage shortly after midnight.

Meanwhile, the club’s patron Jimson Jium commended the increased number of activities organised over the past two years but called for stronger commitment from members to ensure future programmes are successfully carried out and bring meaningful impact to the club and the wider community.

At the event, Willie also presented a grant of RM20,000 to the club to support its activities.
