BINTULU: A supermarket here was slapped with a compound notice under Section 30(1) of the Public Health Protection Ordinance (PHPO) after rat droppings were discovered during an inspection.

The premises were also served with a ‘Cleaning Work Order Notice’ to ensure the area remains clean, safe, and free from contamination risks.

Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) stressed it would not compromise on public hygiene, adding that regular inspections would continue to be carried out.

“Legal action will be taken against any premises operators who fail to comply with regulations,” the authority said in a statement on Thursday.

At the same time, BDA called on all business operators to prioritise cleanliness in order to safeguard food safety, consumer health, and the well-being of the Bintulu community.
