KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) youth chief Johnical Rayong Ngipa has expressed disappointment with deputy president Datuk Dr Jerip Susil for quitting the party.
“I’m deeply saddened by this latest twist of event involving the party,” he said when asked for his reaction to the sudden decision by Dr Jerip who announced that his resignation took effect immediately.
Dr Jerip, who is also Mambong assemblyman, dropped the bombshell in a signed letter dated July 10 but released to the media yesterday.
“To me, (Dr) Jerip does not have strong political will,” he said.
Rayong said barely 15 days ago, Dr Jerip together with other top leaders of PSB including president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, senior vice presidents Datuk Tiong Thai King, Datuk Ranum Mina, Sri Aman MP Datuk Masir Kujat and himself signed a pledge of loyalty and commitment to PSB.
It was for all the signatories to sincerely and solemnly declare that they are totally loyal and committed to PSB and will not jump ship to join another political party regardless of any offer of benefits or posts.
Ranum, who is also Opar assemblyman, when contacted, however, declined to comment saying the decision involved personal matters and interest.
“I don’t know what to say and is not at liberty to say anything because I don’t know what’s in his (Dr Jerip’s) mind,” he said.
PSB, which was formerly called United People’s Party (UPP), is a splinter party of SUPP. It was established following a protracted leadership crisis.
