SELANGOR: Early wins on the green have given Sarawak’s Para SUKMA contingent plenty to cheer about, with Chef-de-Mission (CDM), Datuk Dr Mohamad Razi Sitam, hoping the momentum will spread.
Razi was delighted with the strong performances by several Sarawak para lawn bowlers, who opened their respective campaigns with victories at the Bayuemas Indoor Bowls Stadium in Klang today.
He said the early success could serve as a morale booster for their teammates and athletes from other sports, with most events set to begin on Sunday (Sept. 6).
“Congratulations to the para lawn bowlers who secured victories today.
“We hope these wins will serve as a source of encouragement for their teammates and the other athletes competing after this,” he said.
Razi also took time to watch the matches involving Sarawak’s lawn bowlers and expressed confidence that they could continue to produce positive results in the matches ahead.
He urged those yet to compete to remain focused and strive for consistent performances throughout the Games.
Para lawn bowls got Sarawak’s Para SUKMA campaign underway today, a day ahead of most other sports, which will begin on Sunday (Sept. 6).
Earlier, Mahathir Mohammad recorded an impressive 18-3 victory over Terengganu’s Muhammad Fadlullah Mazdan in his opening B7 category encounter.
The win provided an encouraging start for Mahathir as he began his Para SUKMA campaign on a positive note.

With the opening-day victories already on the board, Razi hopes the positive start on the green will inspire the rest of the Sarawak contingent to follow suit.
