KUCHING: As pickleball grows rapidly in Malaysia, a local product is stepping in to support players’ recovery — Re-Gen, an isotonic drink created by former MMA fighter Peter Davis.
Founded in 2023/2024, Re-Gen was inspired by Davis’ own training experience and the need for a trusted recovery drink. Now, it’s becoming a go-to choice for athletes in the growing pickleball scene.
“Pickleball is growing even faster than mixed martial arts.
“It’s easy to play, fun, and a great community builder — and Re-Gen fits perfectly into that vibe.”
While not as physically punishing as MMA, pickleball still demands endurance, agility, and quick recovery — especially in indoor venues where cooling fans can’t be used due to their effect on the ball.
According to Peter, hydration and electrolyte balance are critical for both performance and enjoyment.
“When you’re dehydrated or cramping, you can’t play — and that takes away the fun. Re-Gen helps solve that.
“It keeps you going, re-energizes you, and it’s designed for athletes who sweat a lot and want to keep playing,” he told Sarawak Tribune at Pikabol Malaysia on Saturday.
The product has been on the market for just seven months and is already approved by the Ministry of Health (KKM).
Re-Gen is also two to four weeks away from achieving Halal certification. Its formulation includes ingredients sourced from five countries, underscoring its premium quality.

Currently available in lime, Peter said more flavours are in the pipeline, including a soon-to-be-released strawberry peach variant.
Meanwhile, Pikabol Managing Director Oscar Choo said the partnership with Re-Gen was a natural fit given the sport’s growing appeal across all age groups and the drink’s focus on health and recovery.
“Pickleball is a healthy, social game, played by both the young and the old — and Re-Gen, being a health drink, complements that perfectly.
“When they approached us, we saw it as a great opportunity to support our players with a product that actually benefits them,” he said.
While not as physically demanding as some other sports, Oscar noted that recovery remains essential for regular players, making Re-Gen a valuable addition to the court.
The collaboration comes at a time when pickleball is rapidly gaining traction nationwide.
Looking ahead, Oscar is hopeful the partnership with Re-Gen will expand.
“We’d be more than happy to collaborate further. The feedback has been really positive — many players already knew about Re-Gen and are glad to see them involved.
“Their support, especially in sponsoring prizes, gives players a real boost,” he added.
