KUCHING: The Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA) is pushing for greater sustainability in the property sector, as highlighted at its SHEDA:Encore Conference.
SHEDA deputy president Louis Ting Tiew Hee said the conference, along with other initiatives, aligns with the Sarawak government’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
“Sustainability and the adoption of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles are no longer new conversations in Sarawak,” Ting said during the conference’s opening at the Chemsain Building yesterday.
He emphasised the real estate industry’s role in Sarawak’s sustainability journey.
“We must lead the way in integrating ESG principles into our projects, from planning to execution,” he added.
Ting acknowledged the support of industry leaders, experts, and policymakers, stating, “Each of you plays a key role in realising a greener, more sustainable future.”
The next SHEDA:Encore conference will be held from Aug 22 to 24, 2025, at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), coinciding with the SHEDA Property Expo.
“The upcoming conference will place a stronger emphasis on ESG and sustainability, with the addition of workshops designed to help organisations transition holistically,” Ting said.
