KANOWIT: Police issued three summonses against a local man after he was caught on video running a red light at Bukit Lijum traffic light junction yesterday (Oct 19).
The incident, which went viral on Kanowit Viral News’ Facebook page, showed the black Proton Saga failing to stop at the traffic light, endangering other road users.
Kanowit District Police Headquarters (IPD) said swift actions by the district’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division led to the driver being identified and called in to assist with the investigation.
Further checks found that the 29-year-old man had also committed other offences – failing to stop at a red light, driving without a licence and overtaking on a double line.
Police have since issued three summonses against him.
In light of this, all road users are advised to always obey traffic laws for the safety of all.
Kanowit IPD also expressed appreciation to members of the public who remain alert and cooperate in providing information that helps prevent crimes and traffic offences.
