KUCHING: The Singai Sarawak Research and Development Centre (REDEEMS) is planning to organise an ASEAN Cultural Festival event this December, with the proposal to be submitted to both the state and federal governments for approval.

REDEEMS’ President, Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie, said the proposal will first be presented to the Premier for consideration before being brought to the federal government level.
“I am working to obtain government approval to hold it at the REDEEMS Centre, involving all Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members,” he said at a press conference on the REDEEMS Battle of the Bands 2025 at the Borneo Tribal Village office here on Tuesday.
He said the festival aims to showcase cultural values through music and the arts, with the goal of positioning it on the international stage.
He added that if the plan goes through, Sarawak will secure the hosting rights.
“We hope it will be accepted. If the state government approves it, we will obtain the rights. At REDEEMS, we want to do something unique and different from others. We do not want to simply repeat the same things,” he reiterated.
