KUCHING: The Mayor’s Walk will take place in the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) compound on August 19, 2018. It is organised by MBKS.
Besides enh ancing ties between family members and friends, it also aims to make the public aware of the importance of maintaining a green and clean environment.
“Participants will be given degradable plastic bags to collect rubbish along the way,” MBKS Mayor, Dato Sri James Chan Khay Syn told a press conference at the MBKS building yesterday.
Last year, over 7,000 people took part in the event.
Meanwhile, organising chairan, Cr. Stanley Lau said the 5km walk was free for the public and that free T-shirts and refreshments would be given to registered participants.
“There will also be lucky draw. Balloons will be given away to small children and a photo booth will also be set up on that day.
“City Jogger’s Club (CJC) volunteers will be on hand to help the public,” said Stanley.
Interested participants can obtain the registration form at MBKS Security Counter (Ground Floor) and also through MBKS’s official website at www.mbks.gov.my.
The due date for submission is on Friday, August 10, 2018; you can either email back the completed registration form to kfmayors.walk@gmail.com, fax it to 082-421851 or drop it at the MBKS security counter.
