KUCHING: The Jerayawara Bahasa dan Sastera Jejak Madani 2025 convoy is a powerful demonstration of Malaysia’s unwavering commitment to elevate the national language.

It is also aimed at igniting a love for Malay literature across Sarawak’s diverse communities, said Daro assemblyman and DBP board member Safiee Ahmad.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held at the Balai Budaya, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) Sarawak branch, Safiee stressed that the week-long journey is not merely a physical expedition across districts and communities, but a unifying mission to strengthen national identity.

“Through this ground-level approach, the message and values of the Malay language can be delivered more closely, inclusively, and in a people-friendly way,” he said, underlining how the initiative reflects DBP’s dedication to promoting the national language as a cornerstone of unity.

Running from Sept 22-28, the convoy will make stops at selected locations, including Belaga, bringing a vibrant mix of educational, artistic, and cultural programmes to the community.

Activities such as storytelling competitions, colouring sessions, cultural performances, poetry recitals, and the interactive Jejak Cinta Bahasa programme are designed to spark deeper appreciation and awareness of the Malay language among people of all ages.

Safiee also praised the Naskhah Budi book-donation effort, which accompanies the convoy to benefit students in rural areas.

“This contribution is hoped to become a bridge between the world of knowledge and the heartbeat of Sarawak’s communities, regardless of race, religion, or background,” he added.
