RELA chief reviews Sarawak operations, security efforts

KUCHING: In a bid to strengthen governance and community security, the director-general of the Malaysian Volunteers Department (RELA), Datuk Rosli Yaakub visited Sarawak this week to review the department’s functions.

Rosli, whose visit began on Jan 26, was welcomed at the airport by the director of the IPRM Operations Division, Jimmy Jupiter Sambau; the director of RELA Sarawak, Abang Zulfikar Abang Raduan; operations officer, Shanthi Subarayan; and State Logistics and Armament officer,  Hasimah Saibi; with deputy director Mohamad Nazrul Narman accompanying him throughout the visit.

During his four-day visit, he attended a management presentation session at the RELA Sarawak State Office and toured the RELA Collaborative Assignment with the General Operations Force (PGA) at the Teluk Melano Border Control Post (PKS).

He also took part in a briefing on the construction of the new RELA Sarawak Training Centre, which is expected to enhance operational capacity and training efficiency.

The programme concluded with an on-site inspection of the Training Centre and the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) Complex in Biawak, Lundu, highlighting RELA’s focus on strategic cooperation and community security.
