KUCHING: As floodwaters continue to rise in the state, Maxim E-hailing has stepped forward to support flood victims in Bintulu by donating crucial supplies.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat, Bintulu had the highest number of evacuees with 4,021 (1,090 families) affected and moved to safe locations.
In a remarkable display of community support, Maxim E-hailing has joined the relief efforts to assist the flood victims, whereby their contributions were centred around daily necessities and hygiene products, including sanitary pads, soap, toilet rolls, biscuits, mineral water, instant noodles, and more.
A joint venture with Tanjung Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang, the donations were delivered to 2,400 people at Stadium Muhibbah.
These essential items were distributed directly to the victims to ensure that each family received their share, making certain that aid was delivered equitably.
The team from Bintulu’s office demonstrated incredible dedication by spending their Chinese New Year holiday with the flood victims, prioritising the relief efforts above all else.
Maxim’s commitment to the community was also echoed by Leonardo, the head of Maxim Bintulu.
“My heart goes out to everyone affected by the floods in Bintulu, especially since this disaster struck on the first day of Chinese New Year, a time meant for celebration and reunion.
“Instead of joy, many families are facing hardship and uncertainty. What we can do is not much, but we try to do as much as we can. I’m grateful that my team at Maxim E-hailing could contribute by donating dry food, toiletries, and sanitary pads to those seeking shelter at Dewan Suarah.
“A huge thank you to the assemblyman and his team for their quick response and help in transporting the supplies,” he said in a press release issued by Maxim today (Feb 1).
Meanwhile, Faiz Kassim, one of the flood victims, said that they were moved to the shelter on Wednesday as the water rose around their apartment, and their car was also stranded there.
“There was not much we could bring here because the transportation was limited. I’m so grateful for the donation items that Maxim gave to us today, as we running out and need to share with thousands of other victims.
“Now it’s more comfortable and can be used to survive here for several more days,” he said.
