KUCHING: A meeting between regional religious figures and Sarawak’s leadership highlighted strong ties and boosted cooperation in dakwah (Islamic outreach) and community development.
Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, today (Apr 27) received a courtesy call from a delegation led by a renowned Islamic preacher from Indonesia, Professor Dr Ustaz Abdul Somad, at the Astana Sarawak at 10 am.
The visit was held in conjunction with the Safari Dakwah programme in Sarawak, which began on April 25.
The courtesy call also marked the final day of Abdul Somad’s visit to Sarawak before his departure for Pekanbaru, Indonesia.
During the meeting, various matters related to the development of dakwah, Islamic education, and efforts to strengthen unity among the multi-ethnic community were discussed in a cordial and harmonious atmosphere.
The engagement also reflected the mutual respect between regional religious figures and the Sarawak leadership.
Wan Junaidi expressed his appreciation for the visit and hoped that the good relations established would continue to be strengthened for mutual wellbeing, particularly in upholding noble values and social harmony in Sarawak.
Earlier, before the courtesy call, Abdul Somad and his delegation attended a breakfast hosted by Senior Private Secretary to the Head of State of Sarawak Datuk Seri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie at the Banquet Room of Astana Sarawak.
