SARAWAK has made notable strides in the implementation of projects under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), which forms the first phase of the state’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030).
In his ministerial winding-up speech at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today, Deputy Premier and Second Finance and New Economy Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, highlighted that both state and federal governments had funded numerous projects under the 12MP, spanning 2021 to 2025, aimed at accelerating economic growth and closing development gaps across Sarawak.
“Under the 12MP, the ceiling for state-funded projects has been raised to RM40 billion to finance 1,396 initiatives.

“Of these, 71 per cent are physical projects while the remaining 29 per cent are non-physical, such as grants, contributions, investments and activities,” he said.
Uggah noted that 308 physical projects have been completed, while 679 are ongoing, with RM31 billion or 78 per cent of the total allocation already spent.
He urged all implementing agencies to intensify efforts to ensure projects are completed promptly to avoid spillovers into the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
Highlighting key rural development efforts, he spoke on ‘Projek Rakyat’, which aims to enhance connectivity, public amenities, and rural transformation.
“Since its launch in 2018, 743 projects have been approved with RM10.3 billion allocated, of which 381 have been completed and 362 are ongoing.
“Key projects include road upgrades in Betong and Miri, housing development in Mukah, and a resettlement scheme in Miri,” he added.
Uggah said these initiatives are critical in improving accessibility, stimulating local economies, and enhancing the quality of life, particularly in Sarawak’s rural communities.
