​KUCHING: The remains of a person was found yesterday afternoon at about 1240 pm by a fisherman.

The fisherman was fishing in the waters at Kampung Sejingkat when he stumbled upon the body stuck among the tree roots. 

He alerted the police. Later the personnel from the Fire and Rescue Services Department who were conducting the search and rescue (SAR) operation there brought the remains to shore. A police vehicle sent the body to the Sarawak General Hospital morgue for a post mortem. 

It was earlier reported that an Indian nationality, Prashant Payal, aged 19, fell from a tongkang on Wednesday while taking a bath. The tongkang was berthed at the Hock Seng Lee wharf, here, in the evening. His colleague who saw him falling was unable to save him. 

After a report lodged, police and firemen and other agencies conducted a search and rescue operation. It was later identified that the remains belonged to an Indonesian, Muhammad Sanim.
