KUCHING: A transformative leadership seminar aimed at empowering leaders across Sarawak will be held in the state capital in early January next year.

Organised by MB Edulink Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Benfadzil Strategic Foresight & Innovation Consultant, the two-day seminar titled ‘Generating a Winning Mindset for Leaders’ will feature renowned mind programming specialist, Dr Robert Russell from the United Kingdom (UK).

Specifically tailored for senior government officials, politicians, policymakers, corporate leaders, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), entrepreneurs and business executives, the seminar will be hosted at a hotel, with the venue to be announced later.

Dr Thomas Buan of MB Edulink Sdn Bhd said the programme is designed to enhance leadership influence by leveraging mind psychology and mental engineering, enabling participants to build rapport, instil confidence, reframe challenges and communicate persuasively.

“This seminar is a game-changer for leaders seeking to unlock their potential and generate a winning mindset,” he said in an interview after paying a courtesy visit to Sarawak Tribune recently.

He added that participants will be equipped with practical skills, including how to master the mind, emotions and physical presence to build rapport, influence others, set clear visions and develop positive mental behaviours.

“The seminar will be delivered in an interactive format, encouraging attendees to reflect on real-life scenarios and explore the principles behind cultivating a winning mindset,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Benfadzil Mohd Salleh of Benfadzil Strategic Foresight & Innovation Consultant said the seminar would serve as the main event, with the aim of gathering about 500 participants from diverse leadership backgrounds.

In preparation for the seminar, he said a study tour to the United Kingdom is being planned for early November.

“The tour, the Psychology of Resilience and Adaptability: Building the Foundation for Leadership Success, is an exclusive 10-day UK tour, and it is expected to involve around 30 participants,” he said.

Dr Robert, a leading psychotherapist, behavioural coach and a qualified hypnotherapist, also elaborated on the dual approach being taken — the upcoming study tour and seminar in Sarawak.

Speaking about the study tour, he said it would serve as a precursor to the seminar and providing participants with valuable exposure to academic and cultural settings in the UK.

“Although I would not serve as the main speaker during the UK tour, I will coordinate the initiative, which may include visits to academic institutions — potentially Oxford, Cambridge, or universities in London, as well as cultural outings,” he said.

On the seminar, Dr Russell said it would be a core component of the broader initiative to support leadership development through mental and emotional transformation.

“The seminar would help participants use their existing competencies in a more impactful and meaningful ways, enhancing their ability to lead and connect with others, not just in their professional roles but in their personal lives as well,” he said.

Dr Russell, who is also the associate consultant of Benfadzil Academy, said tools for achieving success would also be shared during the seminar.

“For instance, in sports, if you want to be a world champion — what tools do you need to get there?” he said.
