Rep allocates RM450k to upgrade surau, police hall

KUCHING: A sum of RM450,000 will be allocated to upgrade the Darul Ibadah Surau and the hall of the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters, Jalan Badarudin here.

Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki said RM150,000 from the allocation will be used to upgrade the mosque.

He added the contractor selection process will be conducted through a tender, expected to take place next month.

“Meanwhile, RM300,000 has been allocated for the upgrading of the hall, with the tender process scheduled for September 2025,” he said during the Jelajah Ramadan and Sumbangan Ihsan Ramadan 2025 programme, organised by the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Satok Service Centre at the surau on Monday (Mar 3).

Meanwhile, the annual programme aims to engage with the local community throughout the month of Ramadan and provide assistance to those in need.

Later, Ibrahim performed the Isyak and Tarawih prayers with the local community including residents of the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters.

After the Tarawih prayers, he distributed contributions to 15 beneficiaries from the Sarawak Contingent Police Headquarters’ flats as part of an annual initiative to support underprivileged individuals.

Additionally, the surau also received a special contribution from Ibrahim to support programmes and activities organised by the surau committee throughout Ramadan.
