SADONG JAYA: The Sarawak government, under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, will continue to assist and focus on rural development.

Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris said that rural development is crucial, especially in his constituency, which still requires various infrastructures.

“As an elected representative of the people in this area, I prioritise grassroots development in all aspects, particularly in the rural areas.

“This includes efforts to upgrade or build new infrastructure facilities such as drainage systems, roads, and other projects that have a positive impact on all layers of society,” he said.

He said this when officiating at a Ngiling Kelaya event in Kampung Sungai Buluh here recently.

Awla and other guests later conducted the Biau Ngiling Kelaya ceremony before the ngetas ranyai event was held.

The highlight of the ceremony was the rolling up of the mat (ngiling kelaya) led by Tuai Rumah Sili Bunsi along with Awla and other guests as a symbol to mark the end of the Gawai Dayak 2024 celebration.

Guests were entertained by local Iban artists such as Rawing Sharris, Kath Jelema, and Lenion Rechee.

At the event, Awla presented prizes to winners of the futsal and badminton competitions organised by KRT Kampung Sungai Buluh.
