SIBU: A total of 36 recipients received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants from the Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Alice Lau Kiong Yieng here recently.

The recipients were Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) and Neighbourhood Watch Areas (KRT) in the Lanang constituency.

Lau, in her speech at the presentation ceremony, said that the main purpose of the funds was to assist the recipients in organising their annual activities.

“I hope that JKKK, KRT, and organisations receiving these funds will use them effectively for their activities,” she pointed out.

Lau, who is also the Member of Parliament for Lanang, urged each recipient to submit a detailed report on the use of the MRP funds.

“Failure to do so will result in being blacklisted by the relevant authorities and may lead to the rejection of future applications,” she warned.

She added that submitting a report on fund usage was part of a culture of transparency and integrity.
