BALINGIAN: The spirit of unity among the people is vital to ensuring that Sarawak remains peaceful and prosperous.

Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi said that the state must remain united regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity.

“This is important to safeguard the prosperity and well-being of society in Sarawak.

“In conjunction with this Gawai celebration, I hope the festival continues to serve as a symbol of unity and proud cultural heritage,” he said.

He made the remarks during the Santai Ngabang Gawai Programme held at Rumah Panjang Pantau, Setuan Besai, Balingian, recently.

In line with the visit, Yakub, who is also Chairman of the Sarawak Housing Development Corporation (HDC), took the opportunity to explain the Longhouse Loan Scheme (PPRP).

He explained that the scheme is an initiative by the Sarawak Government through HDC.

“This programme aims to help longhouse communities build or refurbish their homes to make them more comfortable and safe,” he added.
