BETONG: TVS is expected to broadcast programmes that cover the lives of all communities in Sarawak whether in urban or rural areas, said Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu.
Taking a reality show, which depicts the lives of rural people in Korea as an example, he said the show became popular as it managed to give new experiences to city people who had never experienced rural life.
Apart from that, Rentap, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief, hoped that TVS would also broadcast spiritual programmes.
“I believe it can highlight the unity of the people of various religions and races in Sarawak,” he said, adding the establishment of TVS proved the importance of media.
He added that the existence of TVS has also provided an opportunity for Sarawak children, especially youths, to showcase their talents.
At the same time, he hoped that the state-owned television station would always provide accurate and transparent information to all its viewers.
