BALAI RINGIN: An underground electrical cable failure that disrupted water supply in several areas here has prompted urgent repair works at the local treated water plant.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan on Thursday (Jan 29) carried out a site visit to inspect the repairs following the power outage, which cut electricity to the plant’s pumps and affected nearby residents.

Officers from the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), the appointed contractor and other relevant agencies were at the site to ensure the repair works proceed smoothly and efficiently.

“There must be close coordination between JBALB, the contractor, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and the Balai Ringin Sub-District Office to expedite the repair process.

“The repairs must be completed as soon as possible to restore power supply to the plant and normalise water supply to affected households,” said Snowdan, who is also the Balai Ringin assemblyman.

Snowdan thanked all parties involved for their swift response, saying prompt action was crucial to minimise disruption and safeguard residents’ well-being.
