KUCHING: The residential park at Kuching Family Park is now open for public use.
Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Abdul Rahman Junaidi said that the upgrading work of the park was an effort implemented by the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) with the support of an allocation from the National Landscape Department amounting to RM500,000.
He added that the park has become a landmark for DBKU in line with its efforts to make Kuching a clean, beautiful, safe, smart, and sustainable city.
“DBKU strongly prioritises such efforts to ensure that the beautification programme can be carried out at all times.
“Hence, with the existence of a residential park like this, it is hoped that the local community will be able to take full advantage of it, including looking after and maintaining the facilities provided,” he said when officiating the park here today (Feb 18).

Following this, he also notified residents that they may seek horticulturists from their local council to further beautify the park.
He stated that the initiative to beautify the park must come from the residents and the committee members themselves on what they want to do for their own park.
“For local councils such as DBKU, they do have such services. Therefore, it would be wise for any residential committee to come together and seek their assistance in such matters,” he said.
For the record, the newly upgraded park has added various facilities such as football fields, a children’s playground, footpaths, multi-purpose courts, and many more.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the park was completed by Abdul Rahman on Sept 28, 2021.
