KUCHING: Residents and traders in Kota Sentosa have welcomed the completion of a pedestrian walkway upgrade to Olive Garden Recreation Park, just in time for the upcoming New Year.

The RM150,000 project, funded under the Kota Sentosa Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), was successfully completed on schedule by K.K.A Enterprise. The upgraded walkway enhances access to the park, a popular spot for recreation and community activities.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, who spearheaded the initiative, expressed his satisfaction with the project’s completion.

“This project reflects our commitment to improving public spaces and facilities, ensuring they cater to all, especially senior citizens who frequent the park for exercise and social bonding,” he said in a statement.

The project was initiated following feedback from local residents and business owners in the Kota Sentosa commercial area.

Yap held discussions with stakeholders to identify key areas requiring upgrades before securing RTP funding for the project.

On September 25, Yap, accompanied by community leaders and representatives from the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), handed over the letter of award to K.K.A Enterprise.

The council oversaw the project’s implementation, ensuring quality and timely delivery.

Residents and traders expressed their gratitude for the improved walkway, which they believe will boost accessibility and enhance the park’s appeal.

Yap also thanked the MPP for its professional supervision and the local community for their patience during the construction period.
