Residents grateful for garbage disposal effort

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council’s (MPKS) effort to handle illegal dumping for the Chinese New Year celebration is highly appreciated by the residents in Kota Samarahan.

The average population expressed their satisfaction with the services provided by the Council and they expect the service to continue without being limited to the festive season.

Several units of RORO trash cans were placed at several locations known as ‘Hot Spot’ such as Desa Ilmu behind Everrise, Entingan street sale, behind 1 Malaysia Restaurant, behind KFC building, behind UNACO, Bandar Riyal market area, behind FARLEY, Taman Tiya Vista, Taman Samarindah, Taman Sentoria, Stakan Jaya Commercial Center and Mile 9 Housing Estate near OUM.

The placement of such trash cans has provided the public with the convenience of removing any unnecessary items such as faulty furniture, electrical materials such as fans, washing machines, broken refrigerator and others.

By using the RORO system, all types of rubbish can be thrown into the bin and easy to remove and dispose of at the garbage disposal site which indirectly address the problem of illegal waste disposal.

According to an official of the Council responsible for Public Health, Environment and Municipal Service, Nawi Som, explained that such effort would continue for every festive seasons such as Chinese New Year, Gawai Dayak, Hari Raya and other celebrations.

He hoped that members of the public would use the facilities provided by the Council and not to illegally dispose their garbage.

Nawi advised the public to care for the environment for the common good of many.
