SIBU: The Sibu Anti-Drug Squad (SADS) participated in the National Month Celebration Programme, which was held recently at the Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud Chancellor Hall, UTS, here.

The programme was jointly organised by the Sarawak National Security Council (MKN), the National Consumer Action Council (MTPN), and the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS).

Senior Assistant Director of Sarawak MKN, Wazi Seman, said that in line with the theme ‘Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni’, the people must continue to uphold the values of respect and courtesy to maintain peace and progress in the country.

“The values of respect and courtesy are the pillars of unity that have enabled people of different races to live in harmony for more than six decades. Peace is what has helped Malaysia grow,” Wazi said when officiating the event.

Meanwhile, Acting President of MTPN Sarawak Region, Lucas Lau, said that the cooperation between MTPN and UTS through the memorandum of understanding signed in May reflects their joint commitment to implementing social impact programmes.

The programme featured various activities, including aerobic exercise, the Brisk Walk Merdeka, agency exhibitions, the installation of the ‘Jalur Gemilang’ around the UTS campus, and online registration for new members of the Anti-Drug Squad.

Also present were Sibu District Information Officer, Zaini Morshidi; Cr Sean Wong; SADS secretary, Suliza Yusuf; as well as SADS committee members.
