BAU: A retired civil servant was killed in an accident along KM2, Jalan Bau–Lundu near Bau Hospital last night (Oct 28).
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the accident happened at around 7.25 pm when the victim was heading home to Kampung Stenggang from Bau market.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the victim lost control of his Perodua Viva and crashed into a solar lamp post.
“The victim, identified as Nyopas Rinag, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics,” he said, adding that his remains were taken to Bau Hospital for a post-mortem.
Mohd Haide said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Those with information on the accident, are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation or contact the nearest police station.
