LIMBANG: The Limbang Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) has handed over disaster recovery aid to ease the burden of the fire victims of Rumah Bujang.
According to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), the aid, which was channelled by Limbang Division Social Welfare Office, was distributed in a brief ceremony at St Stephen’s Church, Rumah Bujang, Rantau Kiran here on Friday (Feb 24).
The aid given to the longhouse fire victims consisted of cash, clothes, school equipment, food rations and necessary building material worth RM298,800.
It is hoped that the aid can be used by the victims to help in their recovery process and daily necessities.
For record, the fire incident which happened last Jan 25, destroyed the longhouse and also the belongings of the occupants.
No casualties were reported in the fire and the affected victims are being housed in the church, parking spaces and homes of their next of kin right after the incident.
