SIBU: The Rimbunan Hijau Group (RH) marked its 50th anniversary with a grand celebration at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang here, commemorating five decades of business growth and contributions to Malaysia’s economy and international presence.
‘The Night of Gratitude and Celebration’ event drew a large crowd and featured a captivating lineup of entertainment, including performances by Malaysian star, Shila Amzah, local artists, Lion and Dragon Dance troupes, and RH Group’s own staff.
The highlight of the evening was a dazzling aerial drone display featuring 330 drones and a 13-minute musical fireworks show, the latter developed with the help of three young local talents from this town.
Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, praised the RH Group for its enduring legacy and substantial contributions to economic development in Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia, and globally.
“For the past 50 years, Rimbunan Hijau has established a wide-reaching business presence and made remarkable contributions to the economic development of Sibu, Sarawak, Malaysia, and many other nations around the world,” he said.
He lauded the leadership of RH Group Managing Director, Datuk Tiong Thai King, crediting his vision and dedication in steering the group to continued success.
“Today, under the capable leadership of Datuk Tiong Thai King, who was also my parliamentary colleague until 2013, we are confident that Rimbunan Hijau will continue to excel,” he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister also commended the contributions of RH Group employees, whose dedication and resilience across multiple industries have been integral to the group’s success.
“Together with a team of dedicated and talented employees, they have overcome challenges and achieved success. Their accomplishments are widely admired,” he noted.
He concluded by expressing optimism for RH Group’s future, wishing the company continued prosperity, and expressing hope for its ongoing contribution to national and regional development.
“This is a historical moment, as many of us have only seen such drone shows on screen. Tonight, 330 drones light up the sky over Sibu for the first time,” Fadillah said, acknowledging the symbolic significance of the occasion.
