SIBU: Upgrades to two parking areas at Rh Peter Dana (formerly known as Rh Chinda Ankob) in Rantau Panjang here have been completed.
Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan branch chairman, Kevin Lau led his team to the site on Sunday (Mar 29) for a final inspection to ensure the project meets quality standards and is safe for public use.
The project is one of the initiatives carried out under the Bawang Assan Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) fund.
According to Lau, the project involved upgrading two parking areas, with the sites previously grassy land used for planting flowers.
However, he stated that with the increasing number of vehicles among residents, parking space around the longhouse had become insufficient, leading to repeated feedback from the community.
Following site assessments, he said both areas were upgraded and converted into proper parking spaces to improve local traffic flow and parking conditions.
“The completion of the project not only resolves long-standing parking issues faced by residents, but also improves the drainage system and overall environment, further enhancing convenience and living conditions for the longhouse community.
“My team will continue to focus on rural infrastructure needs, actively seek more resources, and implement more people-centric development projects to improve the quality of life for residents,” added Lau, who is also SUPP Youth chief.
