KUCHING: A ride into the city centre ended in tragedy when a local man died on the spot after his motorcycle crashed into a road barrier along Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yakub.
The fatal accident occurred at around 4.30 am yesterday (June 6) when the 48-year-old victim was travelling from the Tun Datuk Patinggi Abdul Rahman Yakub Bridge towards the city.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the victim is believed to have lost control of his Keeway K-Light 202 motorcycle before veering into the road barrier on the right.
“The impact caused severe head injuries, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
“His body was later taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post-mortem examination,” he said.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
