Rider dies after motorcycle skids on highway

SELANGAU: A local man was killed after the motorcycle he was riding skidded off the road and crashed along Jalan Pan Borneo Bintulu-Sibu early this morning (July 28).

The accident occurred at around 6am at KM83 of the highway when the 35-year-old was riding a blue Yamaha motorcycle alone from Bintulu towards Selangau.

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the victim, identified as Badiuzzaman Nordin, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“Preliminary investigations found that the victim is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a bend.

“The motorcycle reportedly skidded onto the left shoulder of the road, throwing the rider onto the road.

“As a result of the accident, the victim sustained severe head and hand injuries. His body was taken to Mukah Hospital for further action,” he said.

Rizal said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Those who witnessed the accident or has information related to the incident, are urged to contact investigating officer Insp Mohd Rahmat Jalimin at 011-31627137 or the nearest police station to assist with investigations.

Police and APM members carrying the victim’s body into a police truck to be transported to Mukah Hospital.
