KOTA SAMARAHAN: A factory worker was killed in a two-vehicle collision along KM17, Jalan Kota Samarahan–Asajaya yesterday (Nov 19).
The fatal accident happened at around 5.15 pm and involved a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle ridden by the victim and a Perodua Aruz driven by a 51-year-old teacher.
Preliminary investigations found that the Aruz, travelling from Asajaya towards Kampung Moyan Lidang, was overtaking on double lines near the junction when it collided with the motorcycle attempting to make a right turn.
Kota Samarahan police chief Supt Damataries Lautin said the 26-year-old victim sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
His body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for a post-mortem.
The driver escaped unharmed in the accident.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
