SARIKEI: A motorcyclist died from severe injuries following a two-vehicle collision along KM435, Jalan Betong-Sarikei-Meradong last night (Feb 18).
Acting Sarikei police chief DSP Benedict Faris Jimoy said the fatal accident, involving a motorcycle and a car, happened around 8.05 pm
“The accident happened when the car travelling towards Sibu from Saratok, collided with the motorcycle ridden by the victim. The motorcycle had just come out from a junction when the accident happened.
“As a result, the 50-year-old victim, who sustained severe head and chest injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics,” he said.
The victim’s body was taken to the hospital for a post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the driver was fortunate to escape the collision without any injuries.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
