BAU: A man and a woman were killed after the motorcycle they were riding, crashed into a roadside barrier along KM22, Jalan Bau-Lundu yesterday (Sept 24).
The accident happened at around 9.55 am near Kampung Stenggang when the victims were riding a Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle from Lundu towards Bau.
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said initial finding suggest that the rider had attempted to overtake a lorry from the left before losing control of the motorcycle.
“The motorcycle veered to the right and crashed into the metal barrier.
“Both the local male rider and his female pillion were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Bau Hospital,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Mohd Haide urged anyone with information to assist with investigations by contacting the nearest police station.
Motorists are reminded to remain cautious, especially during unpredictable weather conditions, and to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before travelling.
