SIBU: The Rimbunan Hijau (RH) Group is reinforcing Sarawak’s economic transformation through strategic reinvestments and modernisation efforts that align with the state’s push toward sustainability and innovation.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, in a speech delivered by Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, during the unveiling of Menara Rimbunan’s revamped façade and interiors today, commended RH Group’s commitment to the state’s development goals.

“I have projected that Sarawak’s GDP will grow beyond five per cent in 2025, underpinned by investments in infrastructure, green technology, and digital innovation,” said Abang Johari.

He highlighted Sarawak’s allocation of RM15.8 billion for development to boost public services, drive equitable progress, and build long-term economic resilience.

The Premier reiterated Sarawak’s ambition to emerge as the ASEAN hub for clean energy, with a target of generating up to 15 gigawatts of renewable power by 2035 through hydroelectricity, floating solar farms, and green hydrogen.

“This transition to a green economy is more than an environmental imperative, it is a strategic opportunity,” he said.

He lauded RH Group’s modernisation of its headquarters here as a reflection of the state’s sustainability agenda, and called on more corporations to adopt clean energy solutions in line with Sarawak’s green future.

“I look forward to seeing more companies step up to champion environmental responsibility, and help cement Sarawak’s role on the global sustainability stage,” he said.

Sharing insights from his recent trip to the United Kingdom, Abang Johari said the visit strengthened his belief in Sarawak’s potential as a major player in clean energy, digital economy, and sustainable development.

“We held promising engagements with experts in green hydrogen and sustainable city planning. I am optimistic these connections will spark future collaborations that benefit both public and private sectors,” he said.

He also expressed confidence that RH Group would continue to raise the bar in sustainability practices, enhance employee welfare, and expand its international footprint.
